The Hypothalamus

The body's storage of fat is regulated by the hypothalamus. An abnormal functioning hypothalamus gland leads to intense physical hunger, abnormally low metabolism, abnormally high food cravings, desires to eat when not hungry, and the storing by the body of excess fat in the abnormal fat reserves.

What causes Hypothalamic Dysfunction?

Endo-toxemia, the production of microbial toxins in the intestinal tract causes hypothalamic dysfunction.  This connection is confirmed by studies that show an overgrowth of bacterial cell wall fragments lead to overeating in animals and humans.  Furthermore, if the hypothalamus of a laboratory animal is purposefully damaged in a study, this animal will systematically overeat and eventually become quite overweight.

The intestinal tract contains receptors for bacterial cells and yeast particles.  There are only so many of these receptors.  Once all the receptors are occupied with bacteria and yeast, no other microorganisms can attach to the intestines.  If you take 100 microorganisms in the intestinal tract, 1 will be Candida albicans (yeast), 5 will be acidophilous/bifidobacterium, the so-called good bacteria and the rest, 94 will be bacteroides, who break the stool down, the so-called bad bacteria.  The acidophilous-bifidobacterium are not harmful to the hypothalamus and make antibodies to help control the bacteroides and the yeast.  When a person is under stress, the immune system will lose some of its control over the proportion of microbes attached to the intestines and the yeast and bacteroides will overgrow, diminishing the acidophilous/bifidobacterium.  With a higher level of bacteroides and yeast, there is more excessive dysfunction in the hypothalamus.

Whenever a person receives an antibiotic, within about 24 hours 99 percent of the bacteria are destroyed, leaving empty receptors for the yeast to overgrow into.  After antibiotics, it is more likely for the bacteroides to overgrow than the acidophilous.  More bacteroides and yeast mean more endotoxins that damage the hypothalamus. This in turn leads to a slower metabolism and loss of control of the appetite.
